About
Welcome to my blog. My name – Jim. I have decided to share my journey of dramatic weight loss as I hike through the local mountains in New England. I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts where hiking trails were abundant and beautiful. Needless to say, hiking soon became a favorite activity of mine. But, like most young adults, life was moving fast and the time to enjoy the trails began to diminish. Along with the poor eating habits that developed, I began to really pack on my weight.
I wasn’t myself. I was tired, so tired. Because I really enjoy hiking, geocaching, biking, fishing, kayaking, camping and outdoor adventures, I didn’t want my weight to be an issue any more. I am inviting all of those who enjoy the outdoors or/and are overweight to follow my adventures. Who knows where we’ll end up! I’m currently working on a hiking guide book for the Berkshires set to be published spring 2011 by Falcon Guides.

This is a great website. I am in the same boat, I love hiking, biking, and many other outdoor adventures, and do not want my weight interfering with it. As such, I created my site in the hope it would increase my outdoor activity and help reach my weight loss/get fit goal. Good luck with site. It looks great.

Hey you are following me on twitter, its cool to see your blog. I will be checking back often.
Jim, Welcome to our hiking blog community. You are so lucky to live in western Massachusetts. I used to live in Noho and Amherst myself, and loved to get outdoors there.
Great site Jim! I’m tearin’ up the trails down here in Florida – hiking, trail running, kayaking, geocaching – sounds like we have a lot in common! Thanks for the follow on Twitter too. Look forward to some cool conversations.
Nice Blog you have here. I am originally from Upstate NY and remember the beautiful trails that I once hiked at; like Whiteface Mountain and others in the Adirondacks. What a gorgeous area that is. Oh how I miss the East Coast.
Your doing a great job as well and look forward to reading about what’s happening.
Gday Jim! Great site, and good on you for working at that weight. On a very similar journey via kayak, and about to start adding in some GPS activity to my paddles also. Keep it real brother! – FP
Great job! I’m doing it through biking and reduced calorie intake. I used to not be able to tie my shoes without weezing but things are getting much better. -25 lbs since last fall. If you ever wanna go for a ride or need a hiking buddy let me know! I’m in northampton
